About Sandra Dean, BCND CMH CNHP
As a Board Certified Naturopathic Doctor, Certified Natural Holistic Practitioner & Certified Master Herbalist, I focus exclusively on preventative medicine, and investigate the root causes that create body imbalances. With my extensive training and twenty plus years of experience in natural health, I am able to offer a variety of natural modalities which I use to evaluate the whole body, mind, and spirit. I am not a medical doctor, and do not diagnose, treat or cure disease. The therapies I utilize are 100% natural and complementary to western medicine. I strongly believe that the body can heal itself when allowed to do so, particularly when combining the proper guidance with nutrition, and lifestyle modifications. My desire is to bring honor to God through offering healing from His creation to all people that are seeking a holistic lifestyle.
MY STORY
As a child, I struggled with severe migraines and seizures, after years of seeking help from conventional medicine without success, my mother turned to chiropractic treatments and herbal remedies that helped me the most.
As life often does at times, I found myself being nudged back to the path of natural medicine after working for the airlines in the early 2000’s. During that time, I was living in Manhattan's Upper East Side and I was primarily flying international flights with a crazy schedule in different time zones, often eating poorly and noticing the drastic decline to my health once again.
At the same time, my grandfather “Papa Murphy” was diagnosed with cancer, and given six months to live. He found a Naturopath and began a complementary health program. His body responded remarkably well, and his cancer healed.
The experience made such a huge impression on me that I also began a program to restore my own health in the same way, I became stronger, and my health improved significantly!
Still living in NYC, I witnessed the horrific 9/11 attacks on the twin towers from the rooftop of my apartment, and It was right then that I made the decision to leave New York City, and my work in the airline industry and go back to college to study natural medicine.
After graduating from the Australasian College of Natural Therapies, I lived in New Zealand and spent time learning and working with Maori ethnobotanical plant medicine, volunteering on organic, biodynamic farms, and interning with holistic practitioners.
While abroad, I also fell in love and eventually married my soulmate, Jason. After our wedding, we lived in the high desert-southwest New Mexico for nearly ten years, serving in natural wellness. I continued to study at the late Michael Moore’s Southwest School of Botanical Medicine and worked directly with seasoned herbalists from New Mexico and the surrounding states.
In 2011, Jason and I relocated to North Carolina to pursue our dream of raising children, homesteading, bee keeping, and herb farming. Our farm is called Living Waters Farmacy, where we offer a variety of herbal teas, remedies and a monthly subscription herbal remedy box all about herbal medicine making.
In 2014 I was able to dive back into my studies and became a Board Certified Naturopathic Doctor through The American Association of Natural Wellness Practitioners.
