About Sandra
MY STORY
As a child, I struggled with severe migraines and seizures, after years of seeking help from conventional medicine without success, my mother turned to chiropractic treatments and herbal remedies that helped me the most.
As life often does at times, I found myself being nudged back to the path of natural medicine after working for the airlines in the early 2000’s. During that time, I was living in Manhattan's Upper East Side and I was primarily flying international flights with a crazy schedule in different time zones, often eating poorly and noticing the drastic decline to my health once again.
At the same time, my grandfather “Papa Murphy” was diagnosed with cancer, and given six months to live. He found a Naturopath and began a health program. His body responded remarkably well, and his cancer healed.
The experience made such a huge impression on me that I also began a program to restore my own health in the same way, I became stronger, and my health improved significantly!
Still living in NYC, I witnessed the horrific 9/11 attacks on the twin towers from the rooftop of my apartment, and It was right then that I made the decision to leave New York City, and my work in the airline industry and go back to college to study natural medicine.
Back to School…The American College of Healthcare Sciences, and then Abroad to Australasian College of Natural Therapies.
New Zealand…Heaven on Earth! I was able to live and work in New Zealand for nine months. I spent my time there learning loads about organic farming and Maori ethnobotanical plant medicine. Partipating in the WWOOF program; volunteering on organic, biodynamic farms, retreat centers and interning with holistic practitioners.
While abroad, I also fell in love and eventually married my soulmate, Jason. After our wedding, we lived in the high desert-southwest New Mexico for nearly ten years, serving in natural wellness. I continued to study at the late Michael Moore’s Southwest School of Botanical Medicine and worked directly with seasoned herbalists from New Mexico and the surrounding states.
In 2011, Jason and I relocated to North Carolina to pursue our dream of raising children, homesteading, bee keeping, and ofcourse herbs.
Our farm is called Living Waters Farmacy, where we offer a variety of herbal teas, remedies and a monthly subscription Herbal Remedy Box to teach herbal medicines.
